Shower Screens FAQ

How long will my shower screen take to manufacture?

Manufacturing timeframes vary depending on the type of shower screen, glass availability, hardware selections and current workload. Timeframes provided are estimates only. Standard turn around is 5 – 10 business days from deposit paid and cleared.

How long will my shower screen take to install?

Most shower screens can be installed within a few hours. Larger or more complex installations may require additional time or multiple visits.

Do I need to be home for installation?

We recommend that someone over 18 years of age be present to provide access and discuss any questions with the installer. However, a key may be left out for access.

Can my shower screen be installed on uneven tiles?

Yes. Shower screens are manufactured to suit existing site conditions. However, uneven tiles may affect gaps, alignment and overall appearance.

What if my walls are not square?

Many homes contain walls and floors that are not perfectly square or level. Your shower screen will be manufactured to suit the opening while maintaining acceptable operational clearances.

Can I supply my own hardware?

In some cases, yes. However, Millennium Glass cannot provide warranty coverage for customer-supplied hardware or any issues arising from its use.

Do I need to remove my old shower screen first?

Not usually. We offer removal and disposal services. Please discuss this with our team prior to installation so appropriate arrangements can be made.

Can building movement affect my shower screen?

Yes. Building settlement, structural movement and normal use over time may affect door alignment, seal compression, gaps and operation. This does not necessarily indicate an installation defect.

Why won't my shower door stay where I leave it?

Bathroom floors are typically designed with falls towards the waste. This may cause the door to naturally move when left open.

Why does my shower door close by itself?

Floor falls and gravity can cause shower doors to slowly close. This is often a characteristic of the bathroom floor rather than the shower screen.

Why is there a gap around my shower screen?

Operational clearances are required to allow the glass and hardware to function correctly and safely.

Why is there a gap under my shower door?

Most shower doors require a clearance of approximately 3-5mm to allow smooth operation and prevent damage to the glass, hardware and flooring.

Why does my shower screen look slightly uneven?

Most homes contain walls, floors and tiles that are not perfectly level or square. Shower screens are manufactured to suit existing site conditions while maintaining safe operational clearances and compliance requirements.

Why is water escaping from my shower?

Water escape may be caused by shower head direction, water pressure, floor falls, drainage design or bathroom layout. Shower screens are designed to minimise water escape, not eliminate it completely.

Why are frameless shower screens not completely watertight?

Frameless systems prioritise aesthetics and minimal hardware. Due to the open nature of these systems, small amounts of water egress may occur.

Why are there small differences in silicone appearance?

Silicone finish, colour and bead size can vary slightly between installations, substrates and manufacturing batches. Minor variations are considered normal.

Why is there silicone visible around my shower screen?

Silicone is required to secure and seal the installation. Minor variations in appearance are normal.

Why is there silicone under the clips?

Silicone beneath clips assists with sealing and helps prevent water ingress.

Why does my glass have marks after installation?

Construction dust, silicone residue and handling marks may be visible immediately after installation. These can generally be removed during normal cleaning.

How long before I can use my shower?

We recommend waiting at least 24 hours after installation to allow silicone to cure.

How long does silicone take to cure?

Silicone typically requires approximately 24 hours before exposure to water.

Why is there condensation on my glass?

Condensation is caused by humidity, temperature differences and ventilation conditions rather than a defect in the glass.

Can I remove the seals from my shower screen?

We do not recommend removing seals as they assist with water containment and overall performance.

Why does my frameless shower screen require two visits?

Many frameless shower screens require the fixed panels to be installed first so final measurements can be taken for the door. This allows manufacturing tolerances and site conditions to be accurately accounted for and helps achieve the best possible fit.

Why does my shower screen require multiple visits?

Some frameless and custom shower screens require templating, final measurements or additional manufacturing stages to achieve the correct fit.

Why do frameless shower doors move slightly?

Minor movement is normal and is a characteristic of frameless systems.

Why has my shower door dropped?

Building movement, seal compression, hardware adjustment requirements and normal use may affect alignment over time.
